The Problem
Due to the pandemic's travel restrictions and the need to stay home, visiting museums in person has become impossible. One of my favorite museums in New York City is Fotografiska, which offers a curated experience of exceptional street photography. The high-quality prints on display are a rare treat, and for many, especially those unable to travel to New York, this experience is out of reach.
The Solution
I set out to create a virtual experience for those passionate about documentary and street photography, where they can not only view iconic photos but also delve into the history behind them. My goal was to go beyond a typical website, offering an immersive journey into the rich culture and stories captured by legendary photographers over the years. This experience would serve as a comprehensive destination, allowing viewers to witness the evolution of photography and watch history unfold before their eyes.
The first step in my process involved conducting user interviews with five students currently enrolled in arts or photography programs. These interviews provided valuable insights into the features that would be most useful to the target users. Based on the findings, I developed personas to further explore and understand their needs. To organize my initial concepts, I then created low-fidelity wireframes, which served as the foundation for the final designs.
